CTU Conference 2007

Unionists representing the 350,000 workers affiliated to the Council of Trade Unions gathered in Wellington from October 15-17, at the CTU’s 10th biennial conference. The theme of the conference was “Unions, Sustainability and Democracy”.
Keynote speakers included Sharan Burrow, Australian CTU President (Sharan is also president of the International Trade Union Confederation - ITUC), ITUC General Secretary Guy Ryder, Prime Minister Helen Clark and Minister of Labour Ruth Dyson. CTU officers and several others also spoke.
On Wednesday, the CTU launched its political strategy, and a new booklet outlining our vision for the workplace of the future.
