Burma has one of the most oppressive regimes in South East Asia which has driven Burma into poverty by mismanagement of the economy by the military regime and where there is gross abuse of human rights including forced labour, extra judicial killings, the use human portering and of human mine sweepers. There has also been widespread and systematic rape against women from ethnic minorities in Burma

Seik will share with you what is happening to people in Burma, especially to ethnic minority women in rural areas. Seik hopes you will come to listen to her short presentation on women in this conflict area and their daily lives.

Please feel free to bring your lunch. Tea and coffee will be provided. The presentation is 20 minutes long with time for discussion afterwards. RSVP or queries to Eileen Brown at NZCTU
