Education Follow-up Project 2005
Many NZCTU affiliated unions have expressed their need to develop systems to formally follow-up with participants who attend union education courses. Having ongoing support and contact with participants ensures they have the support and encouragement they need to apply their new skills and knowledge on the job.
How to contribute to the project
The aim of the project is to develop formal mechanisms to follow-up union education to ensure that participants are fully utilising the new skills and knowledge that they acquire during formal training.
The NZCTU would like to hear from organisers, educators and any other interested people. We also welcome feedback from unionists in countries other than New Zealand.

-Attending a consultation meeting (contact the NZCTU Organising Centre)
-Download Survey for Educators
-Download Survey for Organisers
-Download Survey for Health & Safety Trainers
-Download additional questions for consideration
-Discuss your ideas with the NZCTU Organising Centre
-Provide the NZCTU Organising Centre with any materials that your union uses for education follow-up
-Work with the NZCTU Organising Centre to review or develop follow up systems for your union's education (restrictions apply)

Tools current and to be developed
Many tools and systems already exist. If you are aware of any, please provide copies to the NZCTU Organising Centre.
Passive and active options for tools should be considered.
Some examples are
-Post course survey (phone/written)
-Post course letter
-Ongoing activist newsletter
-Interactive websites
-Development delegates/learning representatives on workplace or within the participant grouping, or within your union
-List of activities/tasks to do following course
-Small project outlines
-Planning tools ? task sheet/next steps/etc
-Case studies for delegate development
-Delegate development plans
-Skills, Knowledge, Attitudes and Behaviors analysis
-Training Needs Analysis tools
