In one traumatic decade, from 1985 to 1995, the social and economic structure of New Zealand was torn apart and replaced by a new order. The changes were an almost pure application of conventional New Right ideology, described in a quote used by the OECD as one of the most notable episodes of liberalisation that history has to offer.
