Industrial Organiser – Central South Island

The NZ Dairy Workers Union – Te Runanga Wai U (DWU) has a vacancy for a fulltime organiser position.

The position will be responsible for organising and representing members employed within dairy processing sites across the central South Island region, including Christchurch, Temuka, Timaru and Glenavy. The position will also be responsible for sites located in the upper South Island region including Takaka, Brightwater, and Blenheim. The position is based within the wider Canterbury region depending on the successful applicant. Applications from candidates who reside outside this region will also be considered.

The successful applicant will need to have an excellent understanding of industrial and employment matters, outstanding negotiation and interpersonal skills and an understanding and affinity with the trade union movement and union members. Previous trade union organising experience or first-hand knowledge of the dairy processing industry would be an advantage. Extensive travel within the central and upper South Island region, as well as outside the region for union-related matters, will be required of the successful applicant.
