The New Zealand Post Primary Teachers’ Association Te Wehengarua (NZPPTA) is looking for a Kaihautū Māori to support the aspirations of our Māori members and the wider goals of the Association.
Within the Kaihautū team there are a number of portfolios including education policy, flagship events such as Māori Teachers’ Conference and Ngā Manu Kōrero, industrial strategy, campaigning and membership engagement. Distribution of the portfolios will depend upon the skills and experience the successful candidate brings.
The successful candidate will be working with another Kaihautū Māori and a wider advisory team and must be able to work flexibly, cooperatively and collectively. The successful candidate will have to be a fluent speaker of te reo Māori and have a working understanding of tikanga.
This is a high-level position and the appointee, along with education, leadership and event organising experience, will also have skills in managing stakeholder relationships and report writing.
A commitment to secondary teacher professional learning and development and high-quality public education is essential.

The salary range is comparable to that paid to senior positions in secondary schools.
